Fatal crash inquiry sees £20k reward offered

A reward of up to £20,000 is being offered for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for a fatal crash.

A 22-year-old man died after the collision between an Audi A4 and a Vauxhall Meriva on Stratford Road at the junction of Ladypool Road, Birmingham, at about 23:50 BST on 1 August.

He was a passenger in the Meriva was taken to hospital but later died. Police are trying to identify two others in the car, including the driver.

"We know that speaking up is not always easy, especially when fear or loyalty gets in the way," said Alan Edwards, regional Crimestoppers manager.

"That's why we guarantee anonymity – no names, no trace, no comeback. If you know something, please contact us," he said.

The reward, only payable for information passed directly to Crimestoppers, rather than the police, will expire on 1 January 2026.

Det Sgt Paul Hughes added: "We need answers for the family and friends of this man. If you have any information, please do the right thing and come forward."
