Murder arrest after body of woman is discovered

Police investigating the death of a woman at a house have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

Northamptonshire Police said it was called by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to a home in Pinewood Road, Northampton, shortly after 06:05 BST on Saturday.

The body of a woman in her 40s was found, and the force said an investigation into the circumstances of her death had begun. Police launched a murder inquiry on Tuesday.

A 55-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

The woman's next of kin have been informed and were being supported by specialist officers, the force added.

A neighbourhood policing team is conducting house-to-house inquiries and extra local patrols.

Anyone with information is urged to get in touch, Northamptonshire Police said.
