A 19-year-old burglar has been jailed for three years and eight months following a 90mph police chase which led to his arrest.
Kyle Allen, described by police as the "most wanted burglar" in South Yorkshire, drove on the wrong side of the road – including on the motorway – as he tried to escape police.
He was sentenced on 18 August at Sheffield Crown Court on 12 charges which included burglary, attempted burglary and dangerous driving.
Det Sgt Dave Baker described Allen as a "prolific criminal" who had risked people's lives with his driving.
He added: "Burglary is an horrendous crime, the thieves not only steal people's belongings, but they leave an emotional and traumatic impact on them for years, knowing someone has been able to enter their home, an invasion of someone's safe space."
A South Yorkshire Police officer had spotted a Suzuki Cross being driven erratically in Penistone at about 01:15 GMT on 28 January.
The driver, now known to be Allen, took off when asked to stop, and was eventually pushed off the road by the police car.

"After a great arrest, a meticulous investigation has led to securing a lengthy prison sentence," Det Sgt Baker said.
"His actions were selfish, and when it came to evading police contact, they were dangerous."
Allen, of no fixed abode, was sentenced for two counts of burglary, attempted burglary, driving dangerously and eight counts of handling stolen goods.
He has been disqualified from driving for three years and 10 months.
