A dual carriageway had to be closed for a clean-up operation after a lorry collided with the central reservation and spilled its load.

Derbyshire Police say they closed the A38 near Alfreton in both directions beneath the Watchorn roundabout at about 12:55 GMT on Monday. The southbound side has since reopened.

The force said no injuries were reported in the crash, which involved one lorry between the exit and entrance slip roads for Swanwick.

Eyewitnesses reported its load of gravel had been shed onto both sides of the road.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes due to the closure.
