A man who repeatedly assaulted his former partner has been jailed.

Jordan Wood, of Spruce Gardens, Bulwell, in Nottingham, was arrested after his victim told someone about his behaviour.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was then informed about a series of assaults dating back to November 2022.

On Wednesday, after pleading guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of assault by beating, the 28-year-old was jailed for two years and four months, and handed a restraining order.

The force added that after his initial arrest, a court order was put in place to protect Wood's victim, which he then flouted, and was subsequently jailed for a month before his guilty pleas.

Sgt Parminder Ahluwalia said: "The victim in this case was understandably extremely fearful of her abuser and showed a great deal of courage to confide in officers about what had happened to her."
