Man charged after body found in house fire

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the death of a man after a fire at a house in Annan.
Emergency services found the body of 58-year-old Joseph Ernest Johnston after being called to the scene on the town's Lady Street at about 06:55 on Tuesday.
The blaze was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Police said the arrested man was expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
Det Insp Graeme Robertson said: “Our thoughts are with Joseph’s family and friends at this difficult time and everyone in the local community affected by his death.”
