Police hunt van driver after child is hit

Police are trying to trace a van after its driver failed to stop after hitting a child.

Officers were called out after a report that an eight-year-old girl had been involved in the incident on Swindon Road in Cheltenham at approximately 08:35 BST on Thursday.

The driver of the "transit type" van, which had a trailer attached, left the scene following the collision, police said.

The girl was treated for minor injuries at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
