Three men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police said it was called following a report a man had been assaulted by a group of men near to the junction with Pindar Road at 15:33 GMT on Wednesday.

The victim was taken to hospital with "stab and slash" wounds, which are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing, said police.

Three men, 26, 24 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remain in police custody, the force added.

A cordon was in place between the junctions of Pindar Road and Kay Road, which has since been lifted and the road reopened.

The force said extra patrols were conducted overnight and officers were available to address any concerns raised by the community.

Det Sgt Matt Swift added: "Our investigation is very much ongoing and despite these arrests, we would still like to speak to anyone who may have any information at all which may be linked to this incident."

Smith urged anyone with any CCTV or mobile phone footage to contact police.
