Town's barrel sculptures to be auctioned off

More than a dozen barrel sculptures put on show in Burton over the summer are to be auctioned off.
The Burton Barrel Roll, which was held in the town centre for 10 weeks, attracted more than 31,000 visitors to the area, organisers said.
Artists painted 14 of the 4.9 ft (1.5m) fibreglass beer barrels with bespoke designs that celebrated the town’s heritage and community - a project forming an art trail that stretched more than four miles (6.4km).
The auction will be held at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton at 19:00 BST on 22 October.
Tilley Bancroft, founder of organising group Making Trails, said she hoped people would want to buy a limited-edition piece of artwork celebrating the town’s longstanding connections with the brewing industry.
“The Burton Barrel Roll has been our most popular trail yet with more than 31,000 visitors flocking to see the designs over the summer. It is now time to find the beautiful barrels forever homes," she said.
“Hand painted by local artists and featuring unique designs, they are the perfect opportunity for businesses or individuals to get their hands on a bespoke piece of artwork celebrating the very best of Burton.
“Successful bidders will not only be securing a unique 3D sculpture but helping to provide a lasting legacy for the town as the funds will go towards creating a new, permanent art installation.”
