Firefighters had to force entry to a private underground car park to put out a car fire.

Guernsey Fire and Rescue said it received reports of a fire on New Street in St Peter Port early on Friday evening.

After breaking in, firefighters discovered a diesel car on fire. They extinguished the blaze with two high pressure reels before checking surrounding offices to check for fire spread.

Satisfied the fire was out, they used a fan used to clear smoke logging.
