A second man has been charged after four police officers were injured following an incident at a house in Collon Lane in Londonderry on Thursday.

The 21-year-old has been charged with a number of offences which include attempted murder, wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault on police and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said he is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on Saturday. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Earlier on Friday, another man was remanded into custody after appearing before the city's Magistrates' Court over the attacks.

Connlan Boyle, 20, from Rosskeen Park in Derry, was charged with assaulting police officers and a custody detention officer.

He is also accused of spitting at officers and being in possession of a Class B drug.

He was arrested after the incident on Thursday morning.

The court was told that Mr Boyle, who appeared via videolink, was wanted for breaching bail.

The deputy district judge remanded him into custody to appear again on 10 December.
