A new music night promising a "mini festival" experience within the space of a few hours will be launched at the end of the month.

The first Stereo Sanctity event will be held on Friday 25 October at Voodoo Daddy's in Norwich, with further events earmarked for Cambridge and Ipswich.

It has been put together by the co-founder of the long-running annual Sound and Vision convention, which started off in the city before moving to Cambridge in 2022.

"I wanted to get back to promoting individual gigs," said organiser Adrian Cooke, who lives in Cambridge.

'An experience'

"Me and my son Jamie are doing it together - we've got two generations curating," he said.

"It's almost like a mini festival in a night, rather than a gig where there's a support band and then a headliner and not much else.

"The whole night is meant to be an experience."

The night's name, Stereo Sanctity, is the title of a Sonic Youth song - giving an insight into the promised music, summed up by Mr Cooke as "alternative, slightly experimental, slightly noisy and generally very eclectic".

Talking on BBC Introducing Norfolk and Suffolk, Mr Cooke said the event would boast three bands with DJs in between the sets.

Deb Googe, bassist in cult shoegazer pioneers My Bloody Valentine, will be performing her first ever solo set, under the name Da Googie, where she will blend intricate soundscapes with visuals and projections.

Norwich band Magnolia, who got together in 2022 while at college, will expand to an eight-piece for the stage show brimming with experimental post-rock sounds.

New band The All Tomorrows, also from the city, recently performed at Latitude and guarantee to deliver a set full of post-rock, shoegaze, post-punk and pop laden tunes.

  • Stereo Sanctity will take place on 25 October 2024 from 19:00 until 23:00 GMT at Voodoo Daddy's, Timberhill, Norwich
