A man has died after he was struck by a motorbike on the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it happened in Newport, on the A3020 Horsebridge Hill, near the junction with Noke Common.

The pedestrian, aged in his 50s, died at the scene following the crash shortly before 05:50 GMT.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

The road is expected to remain closed throughout Thursday with diversions in place.

Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dash cam, doorbell, or CCTV footage.
