Firefighters have been tackling a blaze that has broken out at a building in Birmingham.

Crews were called to the fire on Barr Street in the Hockley area of the city at about 06:20 BST on Sunday, West Midlands Fire Service said.

A spokesperson said eight fire engines remained in attendance and crews were making “good progress”.

Nobody is believed to have been injured in the incident, the spokesperson added.

Police confirmed road closures had been put in place in Barr Street and Hockley Street.

West Midlands Fire Service urged people to avoid the area while firefighters deal with the incident.
