A busy road will be closed for eight weeks as part of wider plans to build hundreds of new homes.

Candlet Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk, will be closed this summer to allow work on a new roundabout.

It will help connect a new development of properties which is being built by Bloor Homes.

An original closure of 12 weeks had been submitted but the county council reduced it to eight.

Bloor Homes is building the first 368 homes as part of major plans for 2,000 new homes in North Felixstowe, as first reported by the East Anglian Daily Times. , external

A spokesperson for Suffolk County Council said that "to avoid noise pollution and travel disruption during the summer holidays" the work would be carried out seven days a week throughout the two months.

The council reduced the duration of the works by four weeks, but the exact date for the closures had not yet been disclosed.

Bloor Homes has been approached for comment.
