Police name biker killed in Highlands crash

Police Scotland have named a 61-year-old biker who died in a crash in Sutherland on Wednesday.

Jeremy Weekes, from Newquay in Cornwall, died at the scene at the of the incident involving two motorbikes on the A837 near Loch Assynt.

He was the rider of a BMW GS1250. A 60-year-old man riding a Honda VFR was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries

His condition is described as serious but stable.

Sgt Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Weekes at what is a very difficult time.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist and who has not yet spoken to officers is asked to contact Police Scotland, external.”
