Isle of Man carers have been invited to share their experiences in an effort to improve dementia services, Manx Care has said.

The healthcare body is holding a series of events involving nurses, doctors, leaders and other healthcare staff.

The first In Your Shoes session is on 19 March and is expected to include up to 20 service users, carers, families and staff.

Manx Care's Karen Maddox said the health care provider was "really keen to listen to the experience and views of carers".

The meeting was part of an organisation-wide scheme to improve services for "every service user, carer and family member's experience", Manx Care said.

'Speak openly'

Ms Maddox said: "This is a genuine opportunity for carers to share their stories and to influence the future of local care."

She said the organisation needed first-hand experience to "improve and offer the right services at the right time and in the right place".

The health care body has encouraged people to "come forward and speak openly about their experiences", to "help shape future standards of care for those living with dementia".

The inaugural session, described as a listening event, will be held between 10:00 and12:00 GMT at the Crossroads for Carers Charity Shop and Community Space in Douglas.
