Two charged with murder after man stabbed in park

Two men have appeared in court charged with murder after a 30-year-old man was found dead in a park.

Tommy Boom died on Thursday after he was stabbed in Miller's Meadow in Northampton shortly after 00:00 BST.

Daniel Larman, 21, of no fixed address, and Kieran Okocha-Sleight, 20, of Woodside Way in the town, have been charged with Mr Boom's murder.

They were both remanded in custody at Northampton Magistrates' Court during an appearance on Tuesday and will appear at Northampton Crown Court on Wednesday.

Mr Larman has also been charged with possessing a bladed article.

Northamptonshire Police said Mr Boom suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene "despite the best efforts of paramedics".

A 21-year-old man from Birmingham who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice has been released on bail as inquiries continue.

A 45-year-old Northampton woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Police video warning

The Northamptonshire force has said that some videos have appeared on social media which "may be linked" to the defendants charged with Tommy Boom's murder.

It urged people to "refrain from publishing or sharing any such content" as there was a risk of "committing a criminal offence under the Contempt of Court act, external".

The force added: "Contempt of court is a serious offence, which not only could prevent a fair trial, but anyone found to be in contempt could be sent to prison for up to two years, get fined, or both."

It asked anyone with information which could be relevant to the investigation to share it with the police via the online portal on the force's website, external.
