Police investigating the deaths of two women at a house in Staffordshire have said they are not looking to make any more arrests.

A man detained on suspicion of murder after the bodies of Joyce Wilshaw and daughter Karen Wilshaw were found faced no further action, police said.

Joyce Wilshaw, 91, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, and Karen Wilshaw, 63, had multiple traumatic injuries, according to the provisional findings of their post-mortem examinations.

Both were discovered at a house on Park Lane, Cheadle, on 31 December.

The women had been found unresponsive on that afternoon, and with significant injuries, said police.

Despite the efforts of paramedics and officers, both were pronounced dead.

A 68-year-old man, who was arrested, then released under investigation, has been released with no further action, said Staffordshire Police.

More tests would take place following the post-mortem examinations, the force stated, but it was not seeking the arrest of any further suspect.

The two women's next of kin continued to be given support, it added.
