Man arrested over reports of sexual assaults

Sexual assaults were reported in three areas of Stoke-on-Trent on Friday morning

A man has been arrested after a number of sexual assaults were reported in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday morning.

There were reports in Shelton, Etruria and Hartshill, say police.

A 25-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, attempted kidnap and sexual assault.

He remains in custody, and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation at this time, said Staffordshire Police.

Events like this are extremely rare, stressed the force, which is offering specialist support to victims, and has increased its presence in the local areas.

Detectives have appealed for any camera footage of a black Vauxhall Astra as the investigation continues.
