Hundreds fined for parking near hospital

North Lincolnshire Council issued 8,880 parking penalty notices in 2023/24

A single street was responsible for more than one in ten parking penalty charges in North Lincolnshire last year.

Motorists generated 8,880 penalty charges across the area, with 1,344 of them being issued on Cliff Gardens in Scunthorpe.

The fines issued on the road, next to the town's general hospital, totalled £35,987.

Figures also showed the local authority generated a total of £239,504 through fines and notices in 2023/24.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the main parking offence in North Lincolnshire was motorists parking for longer than permitted.

The data, obtained via a Freedom of Information request, also showed revenue from parking fines had fallen year on year since the start of 2021.
