A fourth hedgehog has been harmed after three others were kicked to death during the last month in the same area of a West Yorkshire town.

Police said the first two were found dead on Asda Field, in Castleford, early last week.

A third was discovered on Thornhill Road on the morning of 23 May.

West Yorkshire Police said the fourth hedgehog was injured on Wednesday after being kicked on Asda Field.

"Unfortunately there has been another incident of suspects kicking a hedgehog causing unnecessary suffering on Asda Field Castleford," police said in a post on their Wildlife and Rural Crime Facebook page.

They have asked anyone with any information to get in touch.
