Boy, 17, charged after teen stabbed in town centre

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a teenager was stabbed near a town centre bus station.

The victim was stabbed in the leg at about 20:30 BST on Saturday near Blackburn Bus Station on Ainsworth Street, Lancashire Police said.

He was taken to hospital for treatment. The injury is not life-threatening, the force added.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place.

He has also been charged with common assault of an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug.

Police are appealing for witnesses or footage of the incident to contact the force.
