A video has shown the "horrific" moment a car flipped on to its side and crashed into a pub beer garden in Leicestershire.

The Range Rover hit a parked Volkswagen Golf before ending up in the garden of The Bell Inn, in Bell Lane, Husbands Bosworth, at 13:58 BST on Thursday.

Megan Dillon, the landlord's daughter, said the car "flew through the air about three feet above the ground" and sounded "like a bomb" when it struck the garden wall.

No injuries were reported, and no-one was arrested, said police.

Ms Dillon said two people inside the car climbed out of the sunroof "completely unharmed".

"It is so lucky that we were shut and there were no customers in the garden and that no pedestrians or other drivers were involved," said Ms Dillon.

Ms Dillon said she was leaving the pub with her parents John and Sarah Dillon and heading toward her Volkswagen Golf in the pub car park

"As we walked out, my dad was about to lock the door behind us and made a good old dad joke as he always does.

"We stopped to laugh with him and this held us up by about five seconds, which quite literally saved our lives," said the 31-year-old mother.

"We suddenly heard the loudest screeching of tyres that I have ever heard and before our eyes, this Range Rover smashed through the wall."

Ms Dillon said it was the "most surreal experience" and said the crash was like "something out of a film".

"For a split second we all just froze, frankly unable to comprehend what had just happened," she said.

"Instinct then kicked in, and we ran straight over to the car, as we thought there is no way someone isn't severely injured, if not worse, after that sort of crash."

Ms Dillon said she was heartbroken her car was written off because of the crash

"It was without doubt the most horrific and surreal experience of my life and we are all extremely shaken up," she said.

"It was seconds away from being a completely different and tragic outcome."

Ms Dillon explained that the impact was on the side of the car "where her one-year-old son usually sits".

"Thankfully I didn't have him with me, but the thoughts of 'what if' still haunt us."

She added that she is heartbroken that her car is now written off because of the impact from the crash.

The pub is asking people to avoid the beer garden whilst the "large amount of debris, broken fence, bricks and broken glass" is cleared up.
