A section of the M1 has been closed after a "serious" crash in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the northbound carriageway of the M1 was closed between junctions 25 and 26 following the incident just after 19:00 BST.

Both slip roads at junction 26 near Nuthall were also shut in both directions.

The A610 from Nuthall Interchange, where the incident took place, to the roundabout with Woodhouse Way was also closed.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was at the scene, assisting police with the incident, and advised drivers to avoid the area and the M1 where possible.
