Plans to build 143 homes near Tewkesbury look set to be approved next week.

Barratt Homes has sought permission from Tewkesbury Borough Council to develop 16.5 acres of land north of Milnes Covert in Fiddington.

If approved, the scheme would provide 94 open market properties and 48 affordable homes.

The application is the second phase of a wider scheme for up to 460 homes, a primary school, community changing facility and playing fields.

The latest proposal includes a balancing pond and play areas, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

In terms of open market housing, the proposals would deliver 25 one-bedroom homes, 24 two-bed houses, 28 three-bed properties and 17 with four bedrooms.

The affordable housing would be split into social rented properties and shared ownership homes.

The social rented units include six one-bed homes, nine two-bed dwellings and 15 three-bed houses.

There would be seven two-bedroom homes and nine three-bed properties offered for shared ownership.

Council officers recommended the planning application should be approved as they consider it to be in line with planning policies and acceptable in terms of access, layout, scale, appearance and landscaping.

Councillors will consider the proposals at their planning committee meeting on 20 August.
