The local authority general election is set to take place on 24 April

The window for potential candidates to submit their nominations documents to stand in April's local authority general election has closed.

Those intending to stand had until 13:00 GMT to get their completed forms to the local authority.

Objections to the nominations then needed to be lodged before 14:00, followed by the determination of whether candidates were eligible to stand.

There are 21 local authorities on the Isle of Man and elections take place every four years, with the latest set to be held on 24 April.

Returning officers for each local authority have the task of determining whether confirmed candidates for their area would face a contested election or be elected unopposed.

In areas where there are fewest candidates than available seats, the positions left vacant would be filled by the holding of a by-election at a later date.
