Snow covered parts of north Staffordshire this morning as Met Office weather warnings came into force.

However, people waking up hoping for an abundance of snow were left disappointed as much of the county was spared from a covering.

The Met Office issued the county with a yellow weather warning from 06:00 GMT, and placed parts of it under an amber warning from midday.

Pictures sent in from BBC Weather Watchers show some of the snowfall that has affected the county so far.

This morning, BBC Weather forecast rain for north Staffordshire up until about midday when this was set to change to sleet.

The service said more rain was expected at around 13:00 GMT, followed by sleet for the rest of the afternoon before turning to rain again during the early evening rush hour.

The Met Office had warned that there was a chance some rural communities could become cut off and that there is a chance of power cuts.

There was also a chance travel could be disrupted, they said.
