An elderly pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the Moortown area of Leeds on Thursday

A woman in her 90s has been left with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car in Leeds.

The pedestrian was hit at about 15:40 BST on Thursday in the Moortown area of the city, West Yorkshire Police said.

A silver Skoda Octavia had turned right onto Moorland Drive from Harrogate Road when the crash happened, officers said.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and is receiving treatment.

The force appealed for witnesses to the crash or those with video footage to come forward.
