A drag act say they are shocked and hurt after promotional posters of an upcoming gig were vandalised with their faces cut out.

The posters promoting Absolutely Dragulous, a drag performance by George and Jason Talbot-Sullovan, were targeted in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

The married couple from Bournemouth said since posting what had happened on Facebook they had received further abuse.

"It is very hurtful. It's made me feel very down and depressed," said George.

"You get abused in the streets, sometimes you get abuse at shows. It happens all over the place," he told BBC Radio Somerset.

"We haven't had too many posters defaced before. This is something quite new, which is actually quite shocking."

Responding to the vandalism in a post on Facebook, the duo said: "We're still going to turn up. We're still going to perform. We're still going to bring joy. And we're still going to be absolutely Dragulous."

Studio 24 in Wells, the venue hosting the pair's gig, added on social media: "This is really upsetting to see. This show is hosted by a private promoter who has been working tirelessly to bring a truly fantastic show to Wells.

"If anyone knows any information on the people responsible for this please get in touch, we are happy to offer a reward."

George told BBC Radio Somerset: "We will carry on with the show as always but it is a bit worrying."

However, he added that the majority of the responses had been supportive.

The performer confirmed police were investigating the incident.
