A woman who "unleashed a tirade of unprovoked abuse and violence" against five people has been handed a suspended jail sentence.

Jade Rahman, 28, of Birdie Walk, Northstowe, in Cambridgeshire, kicked, punched and bit four people in the Greyhound Pub, in Sawston, in October 2022.

Police said she later ran away screaming and then attacked a man who tried to help her.

She admitted two counts of assault and one of actual bodily harm, and was sentenced to nine months in jail, suspended for 18 months, at Huntingdon Law Courts on Wednesday.

Cambridgeshire Police said Rahman's tirade began in the pub where she punched, kicked and bit three women, including the landlady, and a barman, and pulled clumps of their hair out before running off.

She then ran down the road screaming, which disturbed two residents who opened their door.

Rahman claimed she was in trouble and someone was trying to kidnap her, so the couple let her in.

She then attacked the man, punching him in the face, causing a nosebleed, and kicking him in the stomach.

Det Con Daniel Knight, who investigated, said: "Rahman’s violent outburst was truly abhorrent and horrendous.

"She unleashed a tirade of unprovoked abuse and violence towards five innocent people, including one man in his own home who was trying to help her.

"This behaviour is completely unacceptable."

As well as her suspended sentence, Rahman was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
