A man has been arrested after six people were injured during an attack by two dogs, police have said.
Officers were called to Park Street in Polesworth, Warwickshire, at about midday on Thursday following reports that two dogs were loose and "attacking another dog and members of the public".
Six people stepped in to try to secure the pair - believed to be an XL bully cross and French bulldog - and suffered minor injuries although some required stitches, Warwickshire Police said.
A 49-year-old man from Tamworth, Staffordshire, was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control causing injury, the force said.
He has been released on bail until the end of November as police inquiries continue.
In addition to the six people, a dog is believed to have been injured by the attacking canines, which were seized and placed in police kennels, officers added.
Safer neighbourhood team inspector Andi Gibbons said the force had begun a full investigation to understand what had happened.
"The six members of the public suffered largely superficial injuries, including bite marks, scratches and puncture wounds, with some getting stitches at hospital," she added.
"We've had officers in the area since the incident and they will continue to be around, so if you're worried, please speak to them."
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to make contact.
