Man dies after tanker crashes into broken down car

A driver has died after a tanker crashed into a car that had broken down.

Northamptonshire Police said the white DAF tanker collided with a white Range Rover shortly after junction 15 on the M1 northbound near Northampton at about 22:05 BST on Friday.

The force said the Range Rover had broken down.

Two of four of the lanes between junctions 15 and 16 remained closed for much of Saturday.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has relevant dashcam footage.

Police said the tanker overturned in the collision and the driver died at the scene.
