A 26-year-old man has been charged over the death of a woman in East Ayrshire.
Police received a report of a woman injured within a property in Newmilns at about 12:20 on Tuesday and cordoned off a section of the town's High Street.
Michelle Thomson, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A man was arrested later on Tuesday - the force confirmed on Wednesday he had been charged over the death.
He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
