Changes to conservation area rules considered

Residents in a part of Hull could soon need special permission to install roof lights or solar panels, Hull City Council has said.
The authority has launched a consultation on proposed changes to planning rules within two conservation areas.
People are being asked whether planning permission should be required for roof lights and solar panels on street facing elevations in Ella Street, or for hardstanding areas in front gardens in Newland Park.
Both consultations run until 29 November.
It is also proposed to add Roslyn, number 18-20 Newland Park, to be added to the Hull Local Heritage List.
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration and housing, said: "The council remains committed to ensuring each of its conservation areas are appropriately supported.
"These surveys and public consultations guarantee that the people who live in these conservation areas are at the heart of shaping their future."
A public drop-in session for Ella Street Conservation Area will take place on Saturday 26 October from 10:00 to 14:00 BST in the Bowls Pavilion in Pearson Park.
This will be followed on Thursday 31 October from 15:00 to 19:00 GMT in The Eliot Room on the first floor of the Canham Turner building of the University of Hull’s Cottingham Road campus for Newland Park Conservation Area.
