Man arrested after cannabis plants found in van

A man has been arrested after cannabis plants were found in the back a van, police say.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, a patrol was on duty in Hollicondane Road, Ramsgate, when officers had reason to stop a vehicle.

After becoming suspicious of the responses from the driver, they searched the back of the van where they found boxes and bags with soil, growing equipment and a number of plants.

A 26-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

He remains in custody.
