A hedge fire at a Devon hotel car park was caused by an exhaust from a reversing coach, hotel bosses have said.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the incident at TLH Leisure Resort in Torquay just before 18:50 BST on Tuesday after receiving reports of a hedge fire.
Bosses at the hotel said the blaze was "small" and was started after the heat from a coach exhaust set fire to bushes in the car park as it reversed into a space.
John Finnegan, TLH's director, said the incident was dealt with "very quickly" and no significant damage or impact was caused to the hotel or the car park.
The incident happened on the hottest day of the year with Met Office saying temperatures in in both Heathrow and Kew Gardens, south-west London, reached 32C (90F).
According to Met Office figures, temperatures in Torquay reached 28C (82F) on Tuesday.
