Man charged over Mary Lou McDonald and Drew Harris threats

A man has been charged after alleged threats to kill Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris were posted online.
The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested by officers from the Special Detective Unit in south Dublin on Thursday morning.
It was part of an investigation into threats made online against a public representative and a Senior Garda Officer.
He was charged under Section 5 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
The man is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday at 10:30 local time.
On Wednesday, Ms McDonald said she had reported a "sinister" threat to her life to police.
"Last night a threat to kill me was issued online," Ms McDonald posted on social media, external.
"The individual said he would shoot me dead," she added.
