Three people have been evacuated from a house after a pan cooking eggs set fire.

Firefighters were called to reports of the blaze in Loughborough Road, Hathern, Leicestershire, shortly after 02:10 BST on Tuesday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said four crews were sent to tackle the blaze, which severely damaged a kitchen within the property.

Paramedics treated the three people from the house for smoke inhalation.

The fire service said crews used breathing apparatus to search the building before ventilating the area.

Following the fire, it warned people of the dangers of cooking while feeling tired or drunk.
