Motorists and residents are being asked for their input as a council reviews its parking rules.

Derbyshire Dales District Council launched a consultation on how it manages its responsibilities, which will run online, external until 18 September.

The authority said it is examining three "phases", which include whether or not to reduce the size of some sites, if "under-utilised" car parks can be used for new housing, and if it will introduce charges in some areas.

It also said it will look at the number of disabled bays, electric charging points and motorhome areas.

Six of the authority's 40 car parks are currently free to use.

In a statement a spokesman for the council said the views expressed in the consultation will be discussed by councillors at a community and environment committee meeting.

"It's important to stress that no decisions have yet been made," they said.
