Conor McGregor to appeal civil rape case verdict

Conor McGregor denied raping Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel nearly six years ago

The former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor is to appeal the finding of a civil rape case.

Last year, a woman who accused him of raping her won her claim against him for damages.

A jury found that McGregor assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in December 2018.

He was ordered to pay her more than €248,000 (£206,000) in damages.

The ex-MMA fighter was also ordered to pay the costs of taking the civil action against him.

It has now been confirmed that he lodged an appeal against the judgement with the Irish courts last Friday.
