Photographs taken by firefighters show the ferocity of a fire that engulfed a lorry full of rubbish.
The fire at Trigon Hill, Wareham, Dorset, sent out a vast smoke plume which could be seen for miles after it broke out shortly before 08:30 BST on Thursday.
The domestic waste had to be emptied from the lorry at the landfill site and dampened down, with the fire eventually put out over six hours later at about 15:00.
Bere Regis Fire Station, who took the striking photos and were the first fire crew to arrive at the scene, said it was "a very hot and stinky job".

The fire was eventually put out at about 15:00 and the area of landfill around the lorry was thoroughly dampened down
