A former police officer alleged to have failed in his duty to properly help a victim of an assault will face a misconduct hearing later this month.
Former PC Daniel Burford, who was based in Newbury, Berkshire, was told about the assault in September 2024, Thames Valley Police (TVP) said.
The victim told Mr Burford that he wanted to report the incident to police and make a statement but TVP allege that the officer recorded the opposite.
It will allege, at a proposed three-day hearing from 24 November, that he failed to contact the victim and went on a week's leave without having made any arrangements to progress the allegation.
TVP allege that Mr Burford failed in the areas of honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities and discreditable conduct.
