Elections will take place for two council seats in South Kesteven.
Voting will be held for the Aveland Ward and Belmont Ward on 11 December.
Polling stations will be open between 07:00 and close at 22:00 GMT.
South Kesteven District Council is reminding people that they must show an accepted form of photo ID to be able to vote.
Those wishing to vote by post need to ensure their ballot paper is sent in time for it to be received by 22:00 on the day of polling, the council said.
Postal votes can be handed in to an authorised officer at the council offices in Grantham during office hours, or at a polling station on election day.
However, people handing in their vote will be required to complete a Postal Vote Return Form, the council added.
Returning officer Karen Bradford said: "Local elections are an important way to take part in the democratic process.
"However, we ask that voters check what they need, and where to vote, in advance to make this as straightforward as possible."
