Cold conditions had caused a build up of ice on roads including Snake Pass, Derbyshire County Council said

Two emergency road closures have been put in place in Derbyshire due to "hazardous" conditions.

The A57 Snake Pass between Glossop and Bamford was closed to motorists on Thursday, in addition to the B6001 between Hassop Station Roundabout and Calver.

Derbyshire County Council said the roads were expected to be shut throughout Thursday, with the colder weather creating "build ups of ice" on the routes.

The roads will only be reopened when they are "deemed safe to use", a council spokesperson said.
