A 94-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital after a car ended up on rocks in the south west of Scotland.

Emergency services were called out to a two-car crash on the A747 in Port William, involving a grey Honda CR-V and a red Ford Fiesta at about 14:00 on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance and a 70-year-old man also required treatment.

HM Coastguard said it had been called out to reports a car had gone over a wall and ended up on the rocks. Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
