A podcast telling the stories of Guernsey's last surviving World War Two deportees has won two trophies at the British Podcast Awards.

The Guernsey Deportees Podcast, produced by OG podcasts, was awarded a gold in the specialist category and a silver in the history category at the event at London's 02 Arena on Thursday.

The podcast is a six-part series featuring first-hand accounts from those who were deported to the Biberach internment camp in wartime Germany.

Presenter Ollie Guillou said: "It's an honour to be able to share my grandma's story, and for this piece of Guernsey history to have touched the hearts of so many."

He added: "It's really quite surreal, to be honest. "I went in with really low expectations.

"Little-old-us with a fairly niche history podcast, but this is something we dedicated a lot of love and passion to.

"My whole family is delighted, but my grandma is especially - she was absolutely delighted.

"She was buzzing and when we did get to chat we had an amazing talk about how her tiny little story has been recognised in such a prestigious podcast awards."
