A partially sighted mum and daughter have broken their own world record for running a marathon.
Lucette Crowhurst and her daughter Katie, from Maidenhead, Berkshire, had a combined time of eight hours, 17 minutes and 54 seconds at Sunday's London Marathon.
This was the fastest marathon run by a mother and daughter in the impaired sight 1 (is1) classification.
Lucette, who said she could see blurry colours but had no depth perception, ran with a guide runner, while 21-year-old para athlete Katie chose to go it alone, only using her mum's guide to get to the start line.
Fifty-one-year-old Lucette said her daughter's sporting success was what motivated her to take up running.
"I was inspired by Katie and her elite sporting journey," she said.
She added that she found herself at a loose end when her children went to university and wanted to find something to fill the time.
"I took up running, and I couldn't run - I wasn't a runner," she said.
"I sort of plodded round the garden trying to do 5k every day. It took me hours."
Gradually, though, her fitness improved, and the duo did the London Marathon in 2024.
Their combined time was nine hours, 57 minutes and two seconds.
"We set the record last year and we broke it this year," said Lucette.
'Smashed the record'
She described her guide runner Peter as a "superstar" and said she was "so grateful" for everything he had done.
She said the event was "so loud it was almost frightening", but the energy kept her going.
"It's phenomenal," she said.
"It is amazing, the crowds really make it... it's like one big party really."
In a post on X, Guinness World Records said: "We love to see some mother & daughter quality time!
"Lucette and Katie Crowhurst smashed the fastest marathon run by mother and daughter."
