Three people were injured when a car crashed into a shop in a town centre in Leicestershire.

Emergency services were called just after 09:50 BST to Specsavers opticians in Lutterworth Road, Blaby, on Wednesday.

Leicestershire Police said one person was treated at the scene, while two were taken to hospital. The driver - a man - was unhurt.

No arrests have been made and road closures are in place in the area, the force added.

A Specsavers spokesperson added: "The most important thing is that everyone is safe and, while a couple of people sustained minor injuries, we're very thankful it wasn't more serious.

"The store will need to remain closed for at least the next few days while we carefully assess the damage and make sure the building is safe.

"We really appreciate our customers' patience while we work on reopening as soon as possible."
