A man has been charged after a police officer was hit by a vehicle in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the incident on High Street in Haddington at about 15:55.

A male police officer was taken the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh for treatment and a 34-year-old man was arrested and charged over road traffic offences. He is due to appear in court on Thursday.

The road was closed for investigation with local diversions in place. Police said inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
